Drask

This site is still very much under construction

Drask is a modest city at the end of a single canal running north from Villa Real situated to the east of the large Gorgo swamp. With hostile High Martian Memnonia Mountains to the north and the dangerous Gorgo Swamp blocking travel to the west it is heavily reliant on cloudships or more commonly canal traffic from Villa Real.

The Prince, Priid, is a lover of pleasure and his decadent court is quite famous in the Mare Sirenum seabed region. Unsurprisingly Drask is a very corrupt city were nearly everything is for sale. It has a poorly trained and equipped army with real power in the hands of Prince Priid’s Hill Martian mercenaries.

Drask has a mixed economy relying on farming, some trade but mainly rare spices and plants harvested from the Gorgo Swamp and liftwood from the nearby Memnonia Mountains. Sadly the rampant corruption has badly affected the economy.

Historically Drask always had poor relations with the southern city of Valx, now Villa Real, which had subjugated it several times over the years. With the arrival of the Spaniards this has changed and is much more cordial. Prince Priid is content to let General Manuel Macías y Casado carry out his own plans for Villa Real while the gift of an opulent aerial steam yacht to the Prince was very popular.

Memnite is the language used in the city. It is part of the Bootnai family of Canal Martian languages and is heavily inflected, tonal and subtle in its shades of meaning. It is sadly notoriously difficult to learn for humans.
