Is a prosperous city built on its reputation of fair trade and honesty. It is ruled by Prince Lacolaax III who is a popular and capable leader like his father and grandfather before him.
Torane has a capable army and trained fleet used predominately for anti-piracy and appears to lack any territorial ambitions.
Prince Lacolaax is amenable to human traders but is understandably wary of the Imperial ambitions of the great human powers. He is on good terms with the Spanish at Villa Real who realistically understand that Toroane is best left alone given its strengths.
Memnite is the language used in the city. It is part of the Bootnai family of Canal Martian languages and is heavily inflected, tonal and subtle in its shades of meaning. It is sadly notoriously difficult to learn for humans.
